Arizona Repertory Theatre
This monster of a play brought several challenges through the world we decided to create. We are taken through this world as if we were in the mind of Richard, a dark and twisted soul whose only goals and motivations lead him to power. The feeling of the show needed to be so horrific and dark, that the audience would (and should) feel a sense of discomfort. Not only did the terrifying, vibrant music and chilling soundscapes aid in this feeling, new trials in speaker placement became a huge aspect, as well. In Marroney Theatre, the proscenium space in which this showed, There are no useable points of mounting on the side walls of the seating banks to fill in these empty points of coverage, so we made some. Building a mount entirely from scratch, we were able to mount speakers to the side walls, providing yet another point of "surround sound" experience, sure to deliver the creepiness needed for this show.
